EX114 Letting go of perfection

Look though your photographs from a year or two ago. See if you can find three that stand out. Ones that you may have originally discarded because you thought they were imperfect. Yet, now after some time has passed you think, hmmm… I can definitely get away with that because it is actually rather lovely.

As you post your three photographs please tell us what it was you disliked at first. What is it about the photograph that now captures your attention.

Consider, ways you might use to avoid getting caught up on perfectionism and tell us about them. Perhaps we can learn a technique or two from each other.

This photograph in the Tarkine was one I was so sorely disappointted in when I saw it blown up on my larger computer screen. The tree in the top right hand corner is soft and out of focus. I was kicking myself for not getting it in focus. So I printed it out, and over time I decided it was ok and I should let go of the hard time I had been giving myself over this.

The photograph is clearly imperfect and will always be in my eyes. But I can still love it for what it is.
