Holidays
I have been on holidays in the Tweed River area. I am still not home but start making my way home tomorrow. I’ll be back at work with Clair on Monday.
I have to jump into the Masterclass on Thursday. We have ended up with one day time group that meets at ten in my studio twice each month over the year. Though there will be times when I am travelling we will meet on zoom. We have one photographer joining via zoom from America too. It’s a departure from the last one I ran, and a return to more time with each photographers art in critique mode. This is where so much learning seems to be. You could even think of the year as a as mentoring. Whilst there is lots of self paced material too, it’s the personal interactions that make it a great year.
For anyone of any skill level that wishes to take their photography to the next level. Most graduates end up exhibiting. The list of exhibitions from graduates is extensive. Do you know I still get invites to exhibitions from graduates from fifteen years ago who completed the earliest masterclasses. As I always say, I don’t know when I’ll run it again. But I am pretty sure it won’t be for another few years.
We all get many people doing again and again. That’s so lovely, as it’s a testament to the growth that can be facilitated when working with me. Something I am so incredibly proud of.
I am so excited for the year ahead. I can’t wait to get my bookmaking supplies out for our workshops. And I can’t wait to cross this country to run a tour in Western Australia and one in the flinders ranges on my way home. Yes I plan to drive all that way again, but this time take some photographs on the way.
Personally I am horrified that we are breaking records left right and centre for the hottest days on record. Australia is the hottest place on earth today. I just wrote up an environmental piece for better photography magazine about climate change and using our nature photography to open conversations about the dire situation we are in. Catastrophic collapse of environmental systems. Let’s use our art to educate others.
I hope to see you on a workshop, a tour or at your exhibition.
