Misty Lens

A few weeks ago I had the most amazing week in The Blue Mountains. Absolutely magical. Probably started with a wonderful client booking in for a week of monochrome photography and lessons. Whilst keen learners tell you how hard it is to find a good teacher, us studious professional educators find it even harder to find those learners who really wish to grow and develop. They keep turning up though, they listen, they try, they ask, they experiment, and most importantly they make the most of every opportunity they can.

We had a lovely house to stay in at Wentworth Falls that week, being able to walk to the Conservation Hut, and Empress Falls. It was warm and homely, and was full of reminders of the woman that lived there. Like the owl sculptures in the trees, that despite rusting away with time, were still keeping a keen eye on the place.

The restaurants and coffee shops didn’t disappoint either, and we spoiled ourselves with beautiful food. The mountains landscape is extremely healthy at the moment after a mild summer full of plentiful water. The greens just glowed with love.

Then, lastly, the weather. The Blue Mountains turned it on for us. Day after day. With the mist and gentle rain, sweeping through daily, culminating in a Thursday of extraordinary qualities. The thick mist stood still all day blanketing the stunning environment. Pea soup, was the label I grew up with. There must be other good descriptors, like shrouded or blanketed. Tenebrous?

I am forever thankful for my wonderful clients that make my life so rich and rewarding. It was such a pleasure being able to share my love for such magical photographic art making days. I thought you might like to see what that Thursday was like?

Thank you for a wonderful week.

Oh and for those of you in Sydney and surrounds, I am opening Clair and Amanda’s exhibition,Echoes of Silence, at 6 pm on Thursday 18th June at the Iron Bark Gallery at Strathfield Library. I’ll tell you a bit more next week, but I hope to see you there. More information here.
