Spring is almost over
The last few months have been incredibly busy. So I have been rather quiet on the writing and posting front. Mind you I have probably added many thousands of images in that time. To be honest the last six months is all a bit of a blur. Tasmania and the Tarkine for two tours, The Great Ocean Road with Peter Eastway, Batemans Bay with Shirley Steel on an Abstract Workshop, Natural Bridge in Queensland to teach photography at a shibari festival, Bermagui for a week of nudes on the coast, Guthega (a sking and snow camping tour), and second trip to photograph Kosciuszko National Park. Let alone the personal trips I did, as I paddled the Nymboida River, skied Perisher, Mt Hotham, and Falls Creek, walked into Wilsons Promontory. Tess, my nearly thirty year old land cruiser definitely put some more miles in during this time. It is time for me to enjoy some down time.
Today Clair and I are preparing for the ‘Artist book and zine making workshop’ for the Hill End Analogue Photography Festival this weekend. I will be proudly exhibiting my artist books and zines there too. https://hillendanalogue.com.au/
I have managed to hurt my leg skiing, with the xray and ultra sound finding nothing, so perhaps it is time to get an MRI scan of it to see if we can find out what is happening with it.
We have put the Masterclass on special for the next few weeks of November, and bought the price down to AUD$4950 reduced from AUD$7500 to encourage you to book in early. We have two classes next year, one in the morning and one in the evening. We have the capacity for you to come and do it in person, or via zoom. Two classes with me per month and your work, will keep you on your toes and focused on your photography for the year. The video presentations for the course can be watched at your own leisure and are all pre recorded. I personally would do this course, just for the opportunity to be mentored by someone whom can encourage and support my creative and photographic growth. It is suitable for those who have already done the Master Class previously because your time with me, will be about the photographs and projects you are working on. Basically, you will get more time with me working on your artworks and practice, than in previous versions. I see this as a very unique opportunity, that won’t be repeated for a few years.
Book your spot in the Master Class before the end of November to save $$$ on next years course. https://lenmetcalf.com/store/p/lens-master-class-2026
I am working up an idea at the moment about a year of exercises to help each of us connect with nature and our creativity. It will run for the whole of next year. Imagine spending a little bit of time each week strengthening your connection with nature and exploring creativity. It has been shown time and time again, that doing so calms the nerves, strengthens our mental and physical health and generally helps us be happier in our world. The exercises will need no skill, a journal, a pencil and a phone camera or your favourite camera. The exercises will be delivered into your email box each week. Next week I will tell you more and you will be able to purchase this for AUD$99. This will kick off in January 2026.
Places are filling up for the Book Making Workshop in March next year in Katoomba / Leura, in the stunning Blue Mountains. I am so excited to be doing this with Shirley Steel, in this workshop / retreat. Imagine a workshop where you come home with numerous book creations made during the week. https://lenmetcalf.com/store/p/photography-art-bookmaking-workshop
Lastly, I will be offering an online Monochrome Course in February that runs over six weeks. Classes will be delivered via zoom, and we will go slowly with plenty of time for you to practice your skills before the next infusion of knowledge and inspiration. Stay tuned folks for the details.
