EX105 Celebrating our influences
Lets play a guessing game. Post three photographs that are all related and are inspired by another artist. When we post them, we don’t tell anyone who we are referencing. Lets then have some fun when we meet in class discussing possible influences and how they work.
You might like to consider this as an extension of last weeks exercise. Or you may wish to start again, or even go further than you did last week.
Instructions
Pick an artists work whom inspires you. Study and stare at there work. Identify the most important aspect of some of their work that works for you.
Write these things down. The more you analyize the artists work the easier this gets. I personally would get a book of their work and sit with it for a while with a note book beside me. Making notes about what I see. Searching and trying to find out what it is that I appreciate in their work.
Pick one or a few things that really excites you and stimulates you.
Now go play with those as the basis for a little project that is inspired by the artists work.
You aren’t trying to copy their style. Or there look. You are searching to find your inspiration in there work.
If we can’t guess who your artist is, then I think you may have just nailed this exercise. Because you aren’t trying to identify their work in yours. You are just using the bits you love for inspirations.
Post three and make no comment on the artists work you have been inspired from. Let us keep guessing.
