EX76 Minimalism

Minimalist photography seems to be different to the Minimalist Art Movement that was in the 1960’s.

Minimalist photography is a form of photography that is distinguished by extreme, austere simplicity.[1] It emphasises spareness and focuses solely on the smallest number of objects in the composition process.

Minimalist photography can be be an emphasis on one or many of the following:

Colour

Form

Tone

Line

Subject

Negative Space

This weeks exercise is increadibly easy to describe, yet will give you some challenges in creating and exploring.

Choose one of the ideas listed (colour, form, tone, line, subject or negative space) and explore that as minimalist photography. See where it takes you. Do not be concerned that you may cross into others into this list. Just mentally focus on one. Of course we love out of focus work, so we don’t mean sharp.

Post three photographs of your exploration in the forum and discuss how you simplified and focused our attention on your subject. It will be so interesting to see where this takes us.
