EX124 Photographs and Captions
Last weeks exercise concentrated on adding text to images. Most of us used titles or included text into the photograph. No one explored playing with captions added to photographs.
So this week let’s try adding text to alter the viewers perceptions of the photograph.
A caption is something more than a title. It explains something that you wish to share about the photograph OR about you OR the process of image making.
You have free rein of what photographs you wish to put up for the discussion.
Each photograph you add, needs at least one full sentence added as a caption. Three would be a nice goal. Three sentences for each photograph. Perhaps your caption is for all of your photographs you add. That is also an acceptable answer for this exercise.
I think it would be a good idea to steer away from technique descriptions of how you are creating the artworks. Instead try to play with stories, or concepts.
Please seperate the photographs with the caption following each photograph.
When we discuss the photographs we can then easily find and read out the captions to see how they influence the photograph.
Tusche Trees
Tusche Ink is used specifically in lithography. It is comprised of black carbon pigment suspended in a greasy medium. Lithography works on the process that water and oil / grease don’t mix. This separation allows us to print with greasy inks and a wet plate.
Tusche Trees
I love ink. I love monochromatic art. I love to draw in ink. I love to paint in ink. It was a childhood / teenage obsession. This series is about exploring this love.
