EX79 Blocking in the Shadows

In this weeks exercise we are going to practice seeing the large blocks of dark tones in our underlying compositions.

We do this by squinting our eyes so that we can’t see the colours. Squint until we only see tone. Now compose your dark tones, these large shapes and see if you can get them sorted before you take your photograph.

In this exercise we want to see more than just the tones. We want to work with the large shapes. The large dark shadow shapes. The blocks of dark tone.

See if you can see the blocks of dark tones in these animated examples bellow.

So it is now your turn. See if you can compose the large dark areas before you take your photograph. Try and visualize them before you take your photograph.

Post a maximum of three photographs where you have tried to visualise the dark areas before taking the photographs. As this is a practice, try to post three different photographs rather than variations of the same one.

Post your photographs here. https://lensclub.discussion.community/post/ex79-blocking-in-10637435?pid=1312523576#post1312523576
