EX 80 Whites and Highlights

I have written two specific exercises that perfectly match this weeks composition presentation. These are:

Exercise 45 Paper which you can read here.

and

Exercise 32 High Key which you can read here.

You may wish to revisit either or both of these at this very moment or you may wish to try something new.

If you haven’t done either of these exercises before they will make a good starting point for this week. You may do one of both of them and post them in this weeks exercise.

For those that are wanting to try something new. To push that little bit harder. Try one or more of the following and push yourself past where you have been previously:

  • Pushing past what you think is over exposed into art.

  • Pushing the boundaries of white paper - can you have too much?

  • Do you need a black to make a high key photograph work?

  • Photograph something white on white. Explore that idea ‘White on White’

  • Explore something that is inherently dark, making it high key and seeing how it changes.

  • Take the theme of white or high key and see if you can make an abstract photograph where you can’t recognise the original subject.

  • Try over exposing in camera and compare that to exposing ‘properly in camera’ and pushing the exposure in post processing. Is the statement ‘It doesn’t matter which way you do it’ true?

No matter what you do post three photographs that celebrate high pitched or high key photography.

Post your photograph here
