EX146 Joiners
David Hockney probably gave us ‘Joiners’. He was interested in perspective and looking at objects from different angles much less like a camera and more like a human does.
Here is a really good documentary where he talks about this himself.
Our exercise this week is to make a simple joiner. I recommend we just start with one three by three.
Three rows of three photographs.
Four by four if you must. But please no bigger. As we can save the bigger more ambitious ones for next time. That can be the following weeks exercise if this weeks goes well.
Photographs of the same subject joined up in a grid, or not in a grid to make a larger image.
In my examples I have gone with a very formalist approach and kept them to a straight 3 x 3 grid. You do not have to do this, as it is ok to overlap them and place them where ever you like.
You may find it easier to do these physically rather than digitally. To make them physical, print out your photographs and then paste them onto a backing board or a larger sheet of paper. Use cotton rag paper, and UHU Glue Stick as they are acid free and archival and you will have something that will out live you.
Post your photographs in our post here https://lensclub.discussion.community/post/ex146-joiners-12354628?pid=1332642731#post1332642731
