EX147 Joiners - unrestricted
We had such a great discussion in Len’s Class this week. A few started by saying, ‘if I was to do one again, I would…’
This lead to many great discussions about what constitutes a David Hockney Joiner.
A s creatives we really don’t need to feel restricted. Each experiment, should be just that, an experiment in creativity.
Some questions and ideas arose:
Print them out and make a joiner physically
Use photoshop to layer them onto a blank canvas
Use a background image, or not at all
Consider the gaps, and the joiner, borders, and their hue and tones. Do I need gaps or not?
Consider moving around the main subject exploring different angles
Consider taking photographs at different times of the day
Consider taking lots and lots and lots, just to join up an interesting sky with a plethora of blues
Three by three is an incredibly restrictive layout - embrace it or abandon it
Use as many images as you wish
So we will give everyone the opportunity to attempt this exercise again, using the inspiration of others to guide us to experiment even further.
Kudos to those that break all expectations and turn up somewhere unexpected.
There is only two rules. Max three joiners per person, and they need to be in the post before Tuesday 11 am Len’s Class next week.
